I want to thank you and all your staff for all the assistance in an admittedly difficult set of circumstances (worst snow storm in 47 years!). Hey, you guys can proudly boast about that!! You helped two active duty service members stationed 1900 miles apart get married overseas in Scotland during the worst snow storm in 47 years! And it all went off without a hiccup! As an Officer in a uniform service that routinely deals with disasters of epic levels (Katrina, Thailand, Rita, Gustav, and now Haiti)! I am proud to have been able to work with you guys and most certainly will be suggesting to everyone I can what you guys helped to accomplish! Truly a dream come true for both of us and a remarkable experience that will be forever fresh in my mind!

Hi Natasha!! Steve and I are still just so amazed at how everything worked out for our wedding, although the weather was such a challenge. :)
Lesley was great - I can't stress that enough. She was so very helpful and supportive, especially when things were getting a little stressful for Steve and I on the 7th (day before the wedding) when we were not sure whether we would need to rebook another venue, etc. due to the weather! :) You and all our vendors went above and beyond our expectations, and we cannot thank you all enough. It was a beautiful day, and we'll never forget it, as well as the outstanding people and service. :) All the best, Anne and Steve

Dear Natasha,
Mark and I cannot thank you enough for all of your hard work with planning our wedding day. Every detail from the piper to the cake and the kilts turned out perfect, and Charlotte was absolutely a wonderful help on our big day. We couldn't have asked for a better setting than Dornoch Cathedral, and the staff at the Castle were very nice and accommodating. Rev. Brown was so amazing and went out of her way to truly made our wedding ceremony unique and special to us. Mark and I really enjoyed having Margaret McAtier as our photographer, she was such a pleasure to work with and we are looking forward to getting our pictures back. We are also very thrilled that we were able to have Alastair Brown be there as our videographer. We just got our highlights clip from him and absolutely love what he put together! (I put the link below for you to see). Once again, I cannot emphasize how wonderful our experience was. When we originally had decided that we wanted to get married in Scotland, I thought that it was going to be to difficult to accomplish. I am so glad that I found Highland Country Weddings! It's fabulous when we get feedback from couples. Here are a couple that dropped into my inbox this week :o) One is from Geraldine with her wedding that we planned over 3 years ago and another is from Deborah, the mother of a bride for a wedding on August 12th a few days ago.

I thought I'd just drop you a little note to say thank you again... three years later!

You and your team planned our wedding in Dalhousie Castle back in June 2006 and we still get goose bumps thinking about it and we talk about our wedding all the time. We are just back from a friends wedding in Kildare, Ireland and I think we spent the whole time just reminiscing about our own wedding day. Our friends and family still talk about the day and how fantastic the wedding was.

Its just so nice to still have those memories and feel as though we would do it all again tomorrow if we could! We are still asked about it all the time and I always sing the praises of you and HCW.

We were talking about having an anniversary party there in a few years!!

Plus the 8 other guests that came over from Canada with us to Scotland to share in our special day thought it was amazing! We all want to say how much we truly enjoyed our visit to the Highlands. Our wedding was perfect! We all just keep saying that it doesn't seem real ....like it was too good to be true! It was such a great experience. The Eileen Donan Castle is absolutely breath taking and we so very much loved our dinner and stay at Tingle Creek Hotel. Edinburgh Castle Wedding - May 8th

Monica and Vidar married at their dream castle - Edinburgh Castle - with their family friends from Norway. And were witness to the rapid weather fluctuations of Scotland! Torential rain, gorgeous bright sunshine, and hurricane winds in the space of one hour - such good sports with the photography, helped by the ever charismatic and energetic Tony Marsh.

Dear Janis, Lesley and all the staff at HCW!

We want to thank you for making our dream wedding come true! From the minute we arrived at our wonderful hotel we felt really welcome, and the staff at the Sheraton made sure we did not lack any kind of comfort during our stay. Opening the doors to our suite and finding the gift basket from HCW really got the week of to a great start, and reassured us that we had made the right decision in choosing HCW as our wedding planners!

All the wonderful people we got to meet during our stay really made this a week to remember! From hair and makeup trials, red carpet and a fabolous bridal car, perfect piping and fantastic photographers - everyone made sure this really would be an unforgettable event! The staff at Edinburgh Castle took care of us all, and even made the sun come out for our photoshoot.

A special thank you to Norman the minister! So calm and easy-going, yet funny and full of laughs, he made us relax and made our ceremony so beautiful and romantic.

Dear Lesley, thank you so much for all your help throughout the process! Please bring our deepest thanks to all the members of your staff and all the wonderful people who work with you to make our dreams come true! Inch Country House Wedding

Patricia and Robert from Glasgow enjoyed a wonderful weekend wedding in the Inch Hotel in Fort Augustus on the 28th March 2009.

Along with almost 50 members of their family and friends they took over the hotel where they were truly spoiled by all the staff. They loved the location and the very relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. George, the owner of the hotel extended a very warm welcome and a weekend of highland hospitality to the happy couple and their guests, allowing them to feel relaxed and spend some real quality time together.

The whole weekend was absolutely fantastic!

From the minute we arrived George and all his wonderful staff looked after our every need, nothing was too much trouble. The location was amazing, being March we didn't know what to expect weatherwise ...as it turned out it snowed a little in the morning and the the sun came out just in time for our ceremony and photographs.

The food was delicious and plentiful, we actually had to tell the talented chef Nick, that the only reason we were sending back some food on the plate was because we were so full.
The cake and flowers were beautiful and Karen and Eilish made me feel like a model. Many of our guests will be returning for a weekend again. Everything surpassed our expectations, I can't thank Lesley, Natasha and George for making my dream day come true.
They took all the stress away and made everything seem so easy to arrange. True professionals!

Dornoch Cathedral - December 12th 2008

Rondi and Tom (from Georgia) at their gorgeous wedding ceremony at Dornoch Cathedral last Friday.

Rev. Susan Brown performed this ever so romantic ceremony for them. This followed a leisurely walk back with Willie the piper, across the village road to the Castle where mulled wine was waiting. After which George the chauffeur from Top Car whizzed them off in his Mercedes to the 'Falls of Shin' and then down to Inverness to the award winning restaurant Rocpool. Albert Roux, world famous French chef was there and served them food fit for king and queen!

Bill and Linda flew over from Hawaii last month to have their pictures taken at Ardvreck Castle in the Highlands - they wanted a photographer to capture the romance in their relationship. We suggested Margaret McAtier - they were NOT disappointed!

...I am so glad Margaret was able to capture the moment for us. Bill and I loved the entire trip: we really appreciated your help and suggestions; Margaret was patient, fun, and accomodating; the Boath House was a perfectly beautiful haven; and Ardvreck Castle was everything we had hoped for...romantic and intimate, not commercialized, and for us it held the spirit of the Highlands. From Oz to Eilean Donan Castle

Jason March and Susan Legrady chose the beautiful and romantic setting of Eilean Donan Castle for their wedding on 10th October this year. Along with their witnesses and friends, Jason and Sue had a lovely time at the castle and a romantic and intimate ceremony, performed by Alan Smurthwaite and Jackie Goode from the Humanist Society for Scotland. Following the ceremony, photographs and champagne, they headed back to Hotel Eilean Iarmain for dinner and whisky!

You will see in the photos, a kazoo... brought all the way from Australia to take part in the wedding of Jason and Sue. Sue explained that it's now an Oz tradition for them to make sure that when they are at a wedding (including their own!) the kazoo must make an appearance. It's a little joke started by Sue at her friends weddings when she was a bridesmaid - so here is proof that the kazoo made it all the way to Scotland for a brief appearance! It's similar to the stories I've read in the past about travelling gnomes who send home postcards... ;o)

Birkhill Castle Wedding - Cecile and Chris

Birkhill Castle was the perfect setting for Chris and Cecile's gorgeous and fun wedding, October 4th! They invited family and friends from their native countries of Germany and France - they themselves met and have settled in the US. Lesely Simpson (Humanist Celebrant) performed a fascinating ceremony, including in this the ancient Celtic ritual of hand fasting and the 'Unity Sand Ceremony'. Here is a part of the script for the Sand Ceremony - there wasn't a dry eye anywhere!

Sand Ceremony (read from the script by Lesley Simpson, Humanist Celebrant)

As a symbol of their union, Cecile and Chris have decided to perform what is known as a ‘Unity Sand Ceremony” prior to exchanging their wedding rings. The blending of two different coloured sand is used to symbolise the joining of two people.

Cecile and Chris, your relationship is symbolised through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand; one representing you Cecile, and all that you were, all that you are and all that you will be, the other represents you Chris and all that you were, all that you are and all that you will be. Each one holds its own unique beauty, strength and character.

They can stand on their own and be whole without the need of anything else. When the two are blended together they represent an entirely new and extraordinary love relationship. Each individual grain of sand brings to the mixture a lasting beauty that forever enriches the combination.

As each of you hold your sand, the separate containers represent your lives to this moment; individual and unique. As you now combine your sand, your lives also join together as one

Hi Natasha,
The wedding was magical. We loved the castle, the grounds, and having our closest friends and family to share this special week-end with us was incredible. The flowers and color scheme were right on what we were envisioning: I absolutely loved my bouquet!! Everybody had a lot of fun with Tony to make a great set of pictures where everyone was always laughing! There were some tears as well as the ceremony was beautiful and very emotional for all of us, including Lesley! And the food was delicious! The piper, the hair and makeup ladies, the castle staff, everyone was really nice.

Laird and Lady of Balgonie's Home

Balgonie Castle - Finnbar's famous!

David and Celeste's wedding at the medieval castle, Balgonie Castle got into the local press - October 4th.

This was hugely enjoyable with Finnbar, the barn owl swooping down to the alter in this most gorgeous and romantic 14th century candlelit Chapel. Congratulations to David and Celeste from Indianapolis. More pictures to follow!

We've noticed a growing trend which is to have an owl (preferably a white one) deliver the rings to the bride and groom at their ceremony. It's really lovely to watch the owl - the intense concentration, the precision flight followed by a satisifed ruffle of feathers as it delivers its bounty.

Why this trend? The owl, of course, has always been associated with wisdom and prosperity, frequently being companion animals for goddesses. Brides love the romance of this.
And, with the release of Harry Potter movies, people have become very familiar with owls - they bridge the magical and muggle world, carrying messages and packages and with one snowy owl (Hedwig) as the dear companion to a lonely wizard. Owls are indeed mysterious, friendly, wise and romantic!

Reaching new Heights!

On Saturday 26th July, Samantha Hobbs and Stewart Campbell from Lancashire took to the dizzy heights of the summit of Ben Nevis for their nuptials. Joined by Ken McMillan, celebrant for the Humanist Society for Scotland, and a few guests, they made the trek up the mountain in glorious weather to tie the knot.

The following is a press article from the Lochaber News:

A BRIDE kept her groom waiting for almost three hours on Saturday.

But she did have to trek all the way up to the top of Ben Nevis to join him.

And then their colourful wedding on the mountain summit in the afternoon certainly stopped hundreds of walkers, locals and tourists, in their tracks.

In a high-level humanist marriage ceremony, Samantha Hobbs, in a below-the-knee pink and white dress and white walking boots, and tartan-clad Stewart Campbell, both from Lancaster, tied the knot on top of Britain's highest mountain.

Although both bride and groom are keen walkers, they hadn't been up the Ben before.

In fact, the only member of the wedding party who had previously scaled the 4,406 feet mountain was kilted Ken McMillan, an Edinburgh driving instructor who was conducting the service.

Lancashire lass Samantha, an art teacher, and welder/fabricator Stewart, whose parents are Scottish, made a Highland weekend of it, holding their reception at Glengarry Castle Hotel near Invergarry.

Everyone had been eagerly looking forward to the wedding at this exalted mountain venue.

And at 9am, the groom, his best man Henry – Stewart's 16-year-old son from a previous marriage – pageboy Kyle and humanist celebrant Ken, set off from the Glen Nevis Visitor Centre to start the trek up the Ben.

Following in their footsteps half an hour later, in order not to meet her fiance en route, was the bride with her dad David and good friend Glynn, who was a wedding witness, along with Henry.

They all allowed three-and-a-half hours for the ascent but the bride's group took nearly twice that time to reach the summit.

However, Stewart was kept in touch with Samantha's whereabouts on the Ben, thanks to the scores of walkers and climbers who reached the summit before him and who gave him a progress report.

The weather at the top of the Ben was cloudy but warm, with not much wind.

After everyone got their breath back on the summit plateau, the ceremony started at 4pm. Ken McMillan gave an introduction and welcomed everybody to the unique location.

Samantha and Stewart had asked for a "hand-fasting" as part of the ceremony. So their hands were bound with two cords and a loose knot formed to symbolise the coming together of the bride and groom.

The couple then exchanged symbolic gifts as personal statements that they wish to look after one another and respect one another's interests and hobbies.

Then came the marriage vows and the exchange of rings, followed by Ken declaring the couple to be husband and wife.

After the hugs and handshakes and cheering and applause had subsided a little, Samantha and Stewart, Ken, Henry and Glynn signed the marriage schedule.

This was followed by the toasts to the happiness of the newlyweds, with malt whisky quaffed from a large silver quaich.

To close the ceremony, Ken read a short poem, and said a few congratulatory words and then a wee drop more whisky was dispensed.

Ken said: "This was a splendid occasion, and there were so many people of every nationality watching the wedding at the top of Ben Nevis that it was busier than Princes Street, Edinburgh."

And the happy couple?

When she had got her breath back, Samantha said: "It has been a really great day. We were a wee bit slower coming up the track than we intended. So I was a little afraid Stewart might be worried about the delay."

But Stewart was delighted.

"It has been an absolutely beautiful day," he said. "I'm really glad we chose to get wed on Ben Nevis. It's been brilliant.

"And Ken McMillan was absolutely great, so patient, and he carried out a wonderful service."

We're back home!! Thank you for all you did to make our wedding at Melville Castle very special. Scotland has to be one of the most romantic places to have a wedding and to top it off having your touch makes the experience that much more!

The flowers were perfect, the violinist "made music", Gillian the hairstylist made me beautiful, the minister touched our hearts, the handfasting ceremony was amazing leaving us with tartan ribbons we'll cherish forever, and Jennifer gracefully captured these moments that were made possible by you and the Highlands Country Weddings team.

Fabulous Wedding at Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness! May 27th

Kandy and Keith from Florida brought over family and friends to celebrate their union at this spectacular castle ruin overlooking Loch Ness. While England experienced its worst storms for the year, Scotland bathed in sunshine – May 27th at Urquhart Castle was simply the perfect setting for this late afternoon outdoor wedding. Banquet and much merriment was later had at the Craigmonie Hotel in nearby Inverness.

Hi Natasha,

You heard right, our wedding was absolutely amazing. We just got back from our honeymoon and we already had Tony's pictures in the mail. I can't choose a favorite, they're beautiful. Most of the landscape doesn't even look real because it is so amazing. I don't think we could have picked a better place - I'm not sure how we ever managed to leave. Our honeymoon was great, and we got to see many cities throughout Europe, but nothing compares to our time in Scotland.

I don't even know if I can describe what I thought of everything. It was definitely more than I imagined. The castle was beautiful, the weather was beautiful, the Craigmonie Hotel was beautiful, and our cake was amazing. Everyone was super, went above and beyond, and our entire family had a wonderful time. At the reception, the food was excellent, and have you seen a picture of the cake? Wow! I didn't want to eat it, it was too pretty.

I guess we'll just have to make plans to come back in the near future :)Thank you so much for all you've done, everything was perfect! We're just sad that it is over, but we have thousands of pictures to remember it all.

A musical affair!

Iona Leigh and Rob Malcolm asked Highland Country Weddings to help them with on-the-day wedding co-ordination services and we were delighted to be there.

It was a beautiful sunny day on Saturday 17th May and Iona and Rob were holding the days festivities at The Findhorn Foundation, with catering from the Ramnee Hotel in Forres. A fantastic day was had by all, with lots of music and singing - Iona composed and sang a song to Rob during the ceremony and there wasn't a dry eye in the house! It was beautiful. The partying carried on well into the night, leaving people with lots of happy, smiling faces and I'm sure lots of happy memories. Our very best wishes go to Iona and Rob.

Edinburgh Castle with Vicki and Jeff (family friends and a sweet poem by Emily Dickenson)

These are a couple of snapshots from a wedding last September 14th from Vicki a British national in Nebraska who married Jeff, at Edinburgh Castle. Vicki had planned to marry a year earlier when her mother fell ill - and with everyone anticipating a fabulous recovery for her, we scheduled this new date. Thankfully she is doing great and had a marvelous time with family and friends, as you can see from these joyous pictures!

Vicki and Jeff chose to have a Humanist ceremony and here is the sweet sweet poem that was read by Jeff's sister.

The month of March, it seems was the month of renewal of vows ceremonies for HCW. And, we absolutely adore organizing these types of ceremonies because they are all so lovely and touching - during which there is not a dry eye around! And, it's because they represent everyone's fantasy of a great marriage! Often years have gone by since the 'big' wedding, children have flown the nest, good things and bad things have been experienced and a new phase appears in the lives of these couples. As a result, these ceremonies are super romantic!

Here are some pictures of the Goor family from New Jersey, with 20+ family and friends. Much merriment was had that day - March 25th - with falconry, clay pigeon shooting, tennis....and a gorgeous banquet at the private 18th Century castle of the Earl and Countess of Dundee.

Some couples decide to have a renewal of vows ceremony soon after their wedding. One renewal of vows ceremony we planned this month of March was for a young couple who had married just 3 months ago. They had come over to Scotland from Switzerland, wanting to be on their own, having experienced the 'big wedding' back home. This was the time for them to be alone in their bliss. They personalized the ceremony to their hearts content and had a wonderful exclusive wedding banquet - just the two of them - in the grand dining room of a privately owned 16th century castle (another fabulous castle!) in the heart of Scotland. It was a dream come true!

And, as I type this entry, this e-mail just in from the the Goors - from Paris!

Well, we are on the train from Paris back to London on our way back to the states. I think I can speak for everyone in attendance at our recent event in giving you and HCW an A++ for your efforts. Rarely in our lives especially these days are our expectations met, but when they are exceeded it is quite a nice surprise. Lady Dundee was simply delightful and the castle was amazing. Everything from the food to the various entertainment folks were just marvelous and I literally can't think of one thing I would have changed.

Stirling is stunning!

Earl of Argyll's 'pied a terre'

A couple of weeks ago, we visited Stirling Castle and came upon this wonderful renaissance 17th century house, named "Argyll's Lodging" . This was the 'townhouse' of the Earl of Argyll who would travel from his other home in Argyll to entertain distinguished guests. Being just a stone's throw away from the great Stirling Castle, the Earl would throw lavish parties within the tapestry lined walls in now what expert architects consider to be the finest and most complete surviving 17th century townhouse in Scotland.

We think this is a unique wedding venue - for smaller parties of between 5-40 people. Janis and I have been traveling Scotland these past couple of weeks, visiting castles both on and off the beaten track. We do this periodically ao that we can both review and decide upon existing castles that we recommend (some change hands or have new managers, for better or worse) and also to check out 'new' castles that may not have previously been available for weddings. We feel that this is so important. A constant review of Scottish wedding venues with our list of criteria is essential for complete confidence.

With this latest trip, we are very excited to have discovered (and to be adding) a couple of select castles to our recommendations. These castles have retained their authenticity with original features, artwork, paintings, decor so that you really do feel that you are in a castle in its original state (with a few modern amenities such as electricity and bathrooms!) These are truly authentic and still lived in by the original descendants - castles even that have regular visits from present day royalty.

We can't wait to recommend these to you!

Letter from America - 11th November wedding at Airth Castle, Scotland

"Hello, my wonderful wedding planners!!!

Thank you so much for everything--you came through beautifully. I was amazed at seeing our vision for the day unfold in front of us. The best part (besides marrying my best friend, of course) was how calm I was able to be. I knew every detail was taken care of, all I had to do was enjoy myself. As you know, I was swamped at work in the months before the wedding. There is no way I could have put together such a breathtaking day here, much less on another continent. And what a wonderful surprise it was to receive the box of bath goodies! Thank you so much for that unexpected treat.

As for vendors, we had a fabulous experience with all. I don't know if there were any problems, as you all insulated me so well, but the outcome was perfect. The cake was elegant and tasted as good as it looked. The flowers were abundant and beautiful (I don't know how they tasted). For all the bossiness of the Castle beforehand, once we arrived, they were amazingly accomodating and gracious. Though the drive was long, The Gathering had the exact ambiance we wanted for our rehearsal dinner. There was much venison & haggis consumed (although I can't imagine why), and supposedly it was wonderful, if you like that sort of thing! Our photographers made us feel so comfortable and worked unobtrusively--I can't wait to see the images.

Best of all, Lesley was as kind & in control as you've been all along, Natasha. Then of course Janis saved our marriage (legally, of course) with some good detective work and a swift dialing finger. You make a great team.

We've fallen in love with Scotland, and your planning had a lot to do with that. Clan McDuff has asked us to write an article for their newsletter. As you may remember, that's the newsletter where we first saw HCW. Though the piece will focus on our trip to the McDuff castle the day before the wedding, I'll try to work you guys in. I'll send you a copy when it comes out. I know we had you all scurrying with pastors, paperwork & pounds. You handled it with grace & efficiency.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Phew! Janis and I are taking a wee break. We happen to be both in the US this week - Janis in New York and myself in L.A. On this Thanksgiving day, we are all extremely thankful for a wonderful year planning weddings for couples from all over the world. We've been up mountains, by lochs, in beautiful medieval castles and country estates all over Scotland. Thank you for trusting us with the most important day in your lives!

Keep in contact in these next 3 days, as we are only a blackberry away! Helen is looking after the fort in Scotland in the meantime and in fact meeting tomorrow with a couple planning to marry in a castle in the New Year. And, talking of which - we have some absolutely amazingly wonderful plans for the New Year. New website, new business and expanded services all to make your Scottish wedding experience the best that you could ever have dreamed! Stay tuned.

Karen and Ewan both work offshore in the oil industry and so they wanted to add a touch of their everyday lives to their big day. They decided upon a cake, made by Rainbow Sugarcraft, which was a replica (scaled down of course..!) of the sea vessel on which they both work. Finished off with cake toppers of Karen and Ewan, it certainly was the talking point of the day. Karen and Ewan chose the romantic setting of Tulloch Castle in Dingwall, where they got married, held a fantastic reception and stayed overnight. A great party was had by all. Congratulations to Mr & Mrs McConnachie from all at Highland Country Weddings!

Medieval Castle wedding on the Borders - October 23rd Wedding

This 14th century medieval pink sandstone castle (Comlongon Castle), was the perfect setting for the wedding of Michelle and Matthew from Roseville, California. They married in the impressive Great Hall and then all spilled outside into the gorgeous gardens, for an incredible falconry display. Dear Janis,
Lewis and I want to thank you for helping us plan a day that we will never forget! We felt comfortable, relaxed, and prepared as we traveled from California to Inverness. The months of preparation, emails, and the like paved the way for a romantic, elegant, thoughtful, family-centric experience. Everything was exactly as we had imagined it to be, but better and absolutely memorable. We brought over 70 guests with us from all around the world and each and every one of them has remarked that it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to. The flowers were spectacular and the accommodation and service at Tulloch Castle put us over the moon! The folks at Tulloch ensured that everything was to our liking, they never rushed us or made us feel like we were on any sort of schedule. However, the night rolled along like clockwork and not a detail was missed. Chills ran up the spines of our guests as we were piped into the dining hall and greeted our guests as Mr. and Mrs. Wooler for the first time.

Janis, you have a way of making everything seem possible and easing the worries of the bride with too much on her plate. You even helped us in moving our date and rescheduling everything with minimal fees. What could have been the most stressful day of my life was instead the most beautiful day of our lives. Thank you for being instrumental in making that possible.

The wedding was absolutely wonderful. Norman has not sent me those pictures yet. Colin’s photos are absolutely stunning. He even made me look good.

Yes the weather could not have been more beautiful!!! I don’t believe there was a cloud in the sky.

We were still a little jet lagged on the big day. I was still so tired.

We thought Scotland was absolutely beautiful!!!!!!! We plan on going back in a couple of years. We didn’t get to do nearly as much as we wanted to. With all the wedding stuff and everything.

Annie & Sylvana - Urquhart Castle Civil Partnership Ceremony - September 29th

Annie and Sylvana from London spent the past year planning their civil partnership with Highland Country Weddings, which took place at the beautiful location of Urquhart Castle by Loch Ness, this last Saturday.

The weather was perfect (despite a midge or two), the registrar conducted a moving ceremony and champagne and nibbles followed aplenty. Annie and Sylvana were joined by their friends Ebon Knee, Bart and Wouter and Janis (HCW Janis!) who felt truly privileged to be an invited guest. A further drinks reception and dinner was held at the beautiful 5 star Rocpool Reserve in Inverness.

A day to be remembered! Our very best congratulations to Annie and Sylvana!

Married on September 13th at Balgonie Castle surrounded by their close family and friends, the piper, the Laird and the Laird's dogs

This is what our own Leslie Simpson (celebrant and on-the-day wedding planner) said of the castle experience.

"The castle is fantastic! The Laird and his wife and son couldn't have done more and the place is just so mind blowing. They have really spent money and time restoring it to it's former glory as the Laird is a real craftsman, and more than happy to talk to guests and take them on a tour of the castle. He had his own little touches which were really nice - he had made them a hand painted certificate and they got to sign the castle's official register. :-)
No hollywood plastic here and I would recommend it to anyone!"

Julie and Robert from Douglasville, Georgia took some time out from their tour of Scotland to marry at Melville Castle. A 7pm ceremony followed by champagne on the lawn. Wonderful!

Highland Castle Wedding - July 21st

One of the weddings we planned over the summer, was at Mansfield Castle - a sweet Victorian castle off the beaten track near a village called Tain in the heart of the Highlands.
We recommended this castle to Simone and Rainer from Schoneck, Germany. They were delighted with this choice - perfect for their family and friends who witnessed their civil ceremony followed by canapes and champagne on the beautiful lawns of this oh so sweet castle.

Diane and David from Poway in Southern California celebrated their marriage at Dundas Castle, near Edinburgh on July 22nd.
The day was perfect - everything went to plan including the weather. Gorgeous flowers decorated the old chapel, music resonated from the castle walls from piping to strings to Scottish and modern.
Canapés and drinks on the lawn with handsomely dressed waiters and trays. Romantic first dance with beautiful bride captured in her poise and elegance by the photographic eye of Justin Scobie.

Virginia Ng and Henry Wong from Hong Kong came to Dalhousie with around 34 members of friends and family. They wished they could bring their 4 gorgeous cats with them and in a way they did - Rainbow Sugarcraft created a wedding cake with the 4 cats decorated onto it! Mee, Mui, Miu and Mike were there in spirit! They added Felix, a 5th cat who sadly died 2 years ago, but had to be included!

Did you know that dogs were domesticated by man and man was domesticated by cats ie. cats came into our lives by default (with the onset of farming and rodents they attracted). Interesting reason why dogs are so physically diverse and so overly dependent on man. Cats are the opposite. Love 'em! :o)
